Once again, looks like I'm the spoiler. I appreciated what Burton was trying to do with the Expressionist style of the 1989 one.
It was a noble failure, versus Nolan's boring success.

Batman, I hated Batman Begins, i found it really boring, i didn't understand what all the hype was about.

Aside from Nicholson, the original was just mediocre. Maybe I just like a more serious and deep tone to a movie but the original seemed just a little bit cheesy. Not as bad as the Schumacker films but just a hint of it. Begins might have seemed boring to you but I'd say you're in the minortiy on this matter.
